Executives Flourish in the Right Environments

The challenge of performing at your best within the rules and culture of the workplace environment

In my role as an executive coach, I've worked with C-suite clients at Fortune 100 companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.

I see the same pattern: leaders who actually want to lead are stuck in reactive mode.

Why? Typically, it’s because of their environment.

I can relate.

In the early 2000s, I worked in San Francisco's booming tech economy.

I learned all about high-pressure deadlines, the importance of teamwork, and complex workplace dynamics

I noticed how people flourished in well-run, functional companies and suffered in dysfunctional ones.

When people were flourishing, I took note of the environments that made that possible.

While no environment is perfect, it’s important to choose one that doesn’t leave you feeling stuck.

That’s why when I work with my clients, we focus on strategies to help them feel better within their environment.

How to ask for what you want, how to set boundaries, how to flourish within the rules and culture of the workplace environment.

This post was inspired by random memories from presentations, workshops, and meetings where my clients activated that feeling of flourishing, then carried it back into the real world and made positive changes.

Are you flourishing in your work environment?

If so, congratulations, and keep on flourishing!

If not, there is hope. You can always learn strategies to work more effectively and be happier where you are now.
